Spring Nails

There are a lot of trends this spring. One being in color choices. I am really loving pastelly colors this spring/summer...especially ones on a good deal. I got these colors when they were "buy 2 get one free" at Sally Beauty Supply. I love going all "Olga Kay style" (only YouTube nerds will know what I'm talking about...if not...youtube her!) and doing one nail in one color and the rest in the one color. It gives creativity and something different. I've been told that "it doesn't matter"...but if you are a fashionista like me...trust me...it does. Here are my favorite colors....so far :)

OPI Review: Katy Perry and Shattered

I could not wait to get the new Katy Perry OPI nail polish. After searching around, I finally found some...an hour away while I was at the mall. I found it in the JC Penny's salon. They were buy one get one half off at the time too...so I got not only Shattered (which was like a "duh I'm getting it!") but I also got Teenage Dream. I couldn't wait to try them out, and after having the polishes for a few weeks, I am finally ready to write an honest and complete review on them.

I've been starting my nail painting routine by applying Nutra Nail to strengthen them and help them grow. I have no idea where I got this, but it's been helping a lot!

It's good as just a plain coat too because it's glossy.

At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy this. Most of the time, you see really glittery nail polishes, and then when you try them out there is barely any glitter..but not with this polish! It's jam packed with glitter each swipe of polish. Even with one swipe, your nail is pink tinted, glittery, and glossy.

I've been waiting so long to try this! Now they are coming out with one colored silver. This one is colored black...so the silver you see on the handle of the bottle would be the background color. Whatever color you put on first (this time it's the Teenage Dream) would be where the silver is...does that make sense? China Glaze is also coming out with something like this in different colors called "Cracked" I believe...and right now at Sally Beauty all nail polish is buy 2 get one free! They didn't have the Cracked at my Sally Beauty :(

OK, so this is a little out of order...but anyhoo..this is after three coats of the Teenage Dream. You need a few coats to get a solid color look.

OK, so now time for the Shattered. Apply only one coat after the first nail polish is COMPLETELY dry. My friend Amanda was with me at the mall when we got the polish and we got some for our friend Astraea who has been dying to try it too. After I looked at their's and mine in comparison..I think I noticed that the polish looks better on OPI polish. It didn't work as well on their nail polishes. Have you tried it on other brands? Did it work out?

It's starting to shatter!

This was the finished look BEFORE I cleaned up the edges of my fingers...but after a clear coat. The clear coat is key because otherwise the shattered looks like of rough. I love this polish! Both of them! I can't wait to try the shattered with other colors! OPI can be a bit spendy, so compare prices when shopping for it and check out eBay too. I can't wait to try out the China Glaze polish and do a comparison post. Shattered vs. Cracked!

Moroccan Hair Oil Update...New CHRISTMAS NAIL TUTORIAL

The other part of this blog is about that Moroccan Oil that came with my nail polish I ordered from Sally Beauty Supply. I finally decided to use it, after hearing it was really good..and it is! It smells delicious, like nothing you have ever smelt, and it keeps friziness down and makes your hair more moist without making it greasy. I have REALLY bad split ends right now, so I have been putting it on my tips of my hair and I think it has improved it's shine and health overall. My hair used to look like straw at the tips, but not it looks really nice. It's only been two days since I have started using it! Be sure that if you do get it, you don't use a lot though, or it will make your hair greasy. Also, don't put it up by your roots, they give out enough oil! Unless you hair is extremely dry up there. I haven't been blogging as often I guess, I kind of mention why in the video...I just started a new term in school too, and my classes are really easy, with barely no homework, but for some reason, I have been so exhausted lately. I think it's the holidays...

China Glaze Review/Houndstooth For Winter?

Finally doing my China Glaze order review. I ordered four polishes from SallyBeauty.com(Sally Beauty Supply)...

Everything that came...

Not sure why, but they also sent me little bottles of "oil treatment" for my hair...I guess you put it in and it relieves friziness...haven't tried it yet, but I'll keep updated with it!


China Glaze is great! I'm so glad I bought it on sale though! It can be super pricey when it's the normal price. The second thing I wanted to talk about was some Winter trends...I'm going to put up a poll about what you think about Houndstooth. This morning I was watching "Watch What Happens Live" from Bravo(the channel with all the housewives LOL) and they were asking a fashion guru if they thought Houndstooth would come back. I mean, I love houndstooth, but personally, I kind of don't want it to come back. Maybe next winter season...I've just seen it so much! Personally, I would love to see a new pattern, maybe plaid, although we do have a lot of that too...So what do you think? Answer my poll! I'll put it right under my "About Me"!

Ghostly/Scream nails-HALLOWEEN NAIL TUTORIAL #2

So this is kind of a quick little blog on another nail tutorial. This is by far the easiest nail tutorial I have done. It's inspired by one of my favorite movie series SCREAM...btw SCREAM 4 out this Spring! EEEEEKKK! So excited! Anyhoo...If you have longer/bigger nails to work with, you can really make it a better nail piece by elongating the eyes and mouth but this is what I came up with!

1)Apply a top coat.



2)Apply a white.




3)Get some black nail polish and pour some out onto a paper towel, tray you don't care about, or in my case....my craft table!



4)Start to create your eyes.




5)Start to paint on your mouth...and then you are done! You can seal with a top-coat!


Thanks so much for checking out today's nail tutorial! Like I said, depending on the length and size of your nails you can do whatever! Tip from my mom:Put your hands in ice water after painting on your nail polish to help them dry quicker. It freezes it! I hope you all enjoy your weekend, I mean, I know I will what will all my homework and Halloween shopping I have to do! ;)

Candy Corn Nails-HALLOWEEN NAIL TUTORIAL #1

Since we are well into October I wanted to do a Halloween-inspired nail tutorial. This is the first time I tried these nails, so bare with me....

1)Apply a top coat. Once again, I use "Beauty Secrets: Hardener"



2)Put a white coat all over your nail.







3)Next, apply another top coat. After the top coat dries, apply a thick line of orange, leaving room for white at the top, and some yellow at the bottom, like a candy corn!









4)Take a tooth pick and clean up around the edges.



5)Apply your yellow at the bottom(fill in the white strip at the bottom)





6)Let dry and then apply a top coat!

Splattered nails NAIL TUTORIAL

It's Friday! Yay!
This blog I'm doing a nail tutorial on how to get "splatter paint" nails. I've been debating on whether to do a video or pictures...but the pictures won due to the fact that my videos never come out clear, so....here goes nothing! The captions/steps will go ONTOP of the picture it goes with.

1. Apply a top coat.



2. Apply a white as your base coat. I used "Sinful Colors Professional: Snow Me White"



3. Get one of your "splatter" colors...





4. And apply it in a dot somewhere on your nail, leaving enough room for the "splatter" parts.



5. Using a toothpic or mechanical pencil, pull some of the paint out in a "splatter design".





6. Apply a few dots around it to make it look like a few little splatters got around.



7. Let your previous color dry, then get another color.





8. Do "Step 4" again with your other color.




YOU'RE DONE!!!



They are so easy, and if you have larger nails than me you can do multiple colors! You will get tons of compliments, and will feel like an artist! Do all your nails, or just a few! Thanks for reading! Comment and tell me how it goes!
